Lazy W Ranch

ATTENTION 4TH GRADE PARENTS

On Tuesday, February 7th Arroyo 4th Graders will be visiting the Lazy W Ranch in the beautiful Cleveland National Forest. You should have received an information packet in your student's backpack last Friday. Paperwork and payment are due on or before January 30th. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher.

Box Tops Contest

t's time to get cutting and save those Box Tops! Box Tops for Education is a fun and easy way to help support Arroyo! All you have to do is clip Box Tops coupons from hundreds of family products like Cheerios®, Betty Crocker®, Pillsbury®, Ziploc®, Kleenex® and more! Simply cut those Box Tops put them in a baggie or on a collection sheet. Be sure to put your student's/teacher's name on it. Then turn them in!

Each month, classes will compete to collect the most Box Tops. The top two winning classrooms will win a Popsicle Party. At the end of the year, there will be a grand prize given for the classroom that has collected the most Box Tops throughout the year.

Arroyo Recycling Program

What is different this year in our Recycling Program? You can put plastic and cans together in a bag. Each bag will be weighed on a scale. We will pick one class from each grade level with the most recycled goods collected. The winners will get HOMEWORK PASSES.

Please remember to bring in your recyclables the last Wednesday of every month. You can find the Recycling bins at the upper grade lower playground.

Coach Palazzo

Coach Palazzo has been a dedicated volunteer at Arroyo for many, many years. Even now that his children no longer attend Arroyo he commits his time each week at our Fit Tuesday working with our students on running the mile. His VOLUNTEER help has been invaluable to us and is definitely one of the reasons we have the #1 fitness scores in all of Orange County. So if you get a chance to click here

Soccer Tournament

Attention 4th and 5th grade parents.

The Health and Fitness committee (with their parents help) will be conducting a lunch time soccer tournament the week of January 30th. The kids are really excited about it! We are looking for some parents to volunteer to referee during lunch for Monday - Thursday. We would love to have "real" refs with uniforms, but we will take any parents who know the rules! You can referee and eat lunch with your child! Recess is 12:15 - 12:45 pm. If you can volunteer to referee, please contact Lisa Leandro at lisa.leandro@hotmail.com or 714.308.2870.

5th Grade T-shirts

Hello 5th grade parents,

You will soon be the proud parent of an Arroyo graduate...congratulations!
To help celebrate this momentous occasion, we are selling t-shirts designed specifically for Arroyo's 2012 graduates. The front of the shirt features a fun and bright design and the back displays each students autograph. The shirt is white with various shades of blue lettering and design. It is to be worn for special 5th grade functions from now until the end of the school year (and beyond!).

Furlough Days

TWO FURLOUGH DAYS HAVE BEEN RESTORED TO THE 2011-12 SCHOOL CALENDAR! Pending official ratification from our bargaining groups, all students in the Tustin Unified School District will attend school on FEBRUARY 17, 2012 and May 25, 2012. Please note the change on your calendar. The furlough day scheduled for January 27 will still be in effect.

Second Annual School-Wide Ripple Kid Project to Erase World Hunger!

Join Arroyo Elementary School, Ripple Kids, & Stop Hunger Now in helping us reach our goal of packaging 10,000+ meals for kids around the world!

• Participate: If you missed this event last year, clear your calendar and plan to come and help! Take advantage of this life-changing opportunity to join Arroyo Elementary School in making a difference! Join your classmates, teachers, administrators and parents in packaging 10,000 meals.
• Donate: Just $5 will provide 20 meals; $10 will provide 40 meals; $25 will provide 100 meals! Donations may be sent to school with the attached flyer, made online (website announcement coming soon). And watch for special fundraisers to help support the event!
  All Arroyo students, grades 1-5 will have the opportunity to spend 30 minutes helping to make the food packages!
