Advancing Student Achievement at Arroyo
Curriculum
At Arroyo, children's learning is advanced through rigorous standards and 21 century technology, supported with highly engaging instruction in the following areas:
- LITERACY: A balanced approach to the Common Core English Language Arts State Standards. This includes Readers Workshop, Writers Workshop, Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Word Study, and access to diversified and robust classroom reading libraries.

At Arroyo, students engage in monthly interactive, outdoor, NGS standards-based, experiential science with a specialized and highly qualified teacher. Our science curriculum is Twig Science, NGS.
- SOCIAL STUDIES: Our inquiry-based Savvas social studies curriculum promotes democratic values, community, and cultural diversity, while supporting the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the C3 Framework.
